Stephanie Woell

Preschool & Prekindergarten Teacher - Half Day

Mrs. Woell has been at Immanuel Lutheran School since 2011. She teaches Pre-kindergarten and loves it because of the children. Their excitement and joy is contagious. You cannot have a bad day in Pre-K! Children are full of wonder and a sense of awe at the world. Learning to love one another as Christ calls us to do is the best job and Mrs. Woell is humbled that she is able to do it at Immanuel with these amazing children as they learn how to be disciples.

What does Immanuel Lutheran School, Palatine mean to you?
ILS Palatine means family to me. My oldest daughter started at ILS in 1999. As we are members of a different local Lutheran church, we really went in blind. My husband and I felt it was important to send our daughters to a Lutheran school, and we were blessed that Immanuel was the closest to our home. Meeting other parents that first year was life changing for us. The friends we met that year are still our friends today. My children were able to go through school with the same kids and were able to make deep bonds. The teachers were amazing, and truly cared for my girls. They made a difference in the lives of my girls, and they continue to do so. Now that I am on staff at ILS I can see how the family feeling here has not changed. It is a special place.

The best part of following Jesus is…
The best part of following Jesus is that it is new every day. Knowing that I am redeemed is so freeing. I can love Jesus the best I can each day and know that no matter what I do, I am still loved beyond measure. His love fills me with awe, and I am so grateful that I get to live looking through the lens of the Cross. I am far from perfect, but I serve a Perfect God. That is such an amazing gift.

Why did you choose the teaching profession?
I chose teaching as a profession because I truly love children. Although the routine of each day is the same, the content changes. I love to learn, and helping others to succeed in learning is gratifying. I love having those light bulb moments and see how children develop and mature throughout the year. Being able to see Jesus work through kids in the school day is a treasure. I cannot imagine doing anything else as a career.

What do you see as the benefits to the students for attending Immanuel Lutheran School?
The benefits of ILS for the students is the small class size, the support of parents, and the love of the teachers. It is a community. We are all there to bring glory to Jesus and make disciples. That goal is what makes ILS special. God is there and we acknowledge Him and are grateful for His presence.
