What We Believe

Immanuel Lutheran School builds strong, compassionate hearts through a nurturing learning environment focused on academic achievement and spiritual well-being. We offer a rigorous learning program supported by a strong curriculum, augmented with today’s technology. We focus not only on academic learning, but also on social development, encouraging each child to reach their potential, within a Christian environment of love and caring.

Our Mission

The mission of Immanuel Lutheran School is to partner with families to equip children for life-long learning and service through a rigorous academic program in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment.

Our Vision

The vision of Immanuel Lutheran School is to nurture the child, spiritually and academically, equipping each child to be a responsible, effective citizen for life.

Immanuel Lutheran School gives children the solid foundation in Christ that they will use throughout their lives. The Christian education at Immanuel builds up and strengthens children’s faith lives, encourages them to be a part of the broader Christian community, and helps them make everyday choices that are pleasing to God. Students are taught to be Christ-like in their relationships with one another. The Bible is regarded as the Word of God and is used as a source of direction for daily living.

Immanuel teaches a Bible-based Lutheran curriculum. Moral and faith issues are integrated throughout the day. However, Immanuel welcomes students and their families from all faiths and backgrounds

Honors and Accreditation

Immanuel Lutheran School is fully accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education and the National Lutheran School Accreditation.

Immanuel has been awarded the Excellence in Education Blue Ribbon Award twice from the U.S. Department of Education (1987-88, 2000-01). The standards and processes witnessed by the U.S. Department of Education are ongoing. The excellence we strive for is demonstrated in the achievement of our students.

Several of our teachers have been nominated for the Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching, and our interim principal, Karen Bauder, received this prestigious award in 1991.  The awards honor outstanding teachers for having lasting, positive effects on students’ lives and school communities.  Teacher recipients demonstrate‑-in their teaching and results‑-significant, positive impact on their students’ growth and learning.  Teachers nominated for this prestigious award show their dedication, creativity and influence on their students and schools.  They have also contributed to their professional communities by sharing their best practices, collaborating with their peers and mentoring new teachers.  They are not only exemplary teachers, but are also influential leaders.  They not only make a difference in teaching, but also inspire community leaders and lifelong learners.

“At Immanuel, teaching is a ministry, not just a job… the staff goes above and beyond the call of duty…” National Blue Ribbon Panel Report.
