Summer Academic Resources

Keeping students academically engaged over the summer is vital for maintaining their learning momentum and preventing the "summer slide," where students lose retention of knowledge and skills acquired throughout the school year. Engaging in educational activities during the break encourages continuous intellectual growth, strengthens critical thinking skills, and fosters a love for learning. Additionally, summer learning experiences can enhance creativity and problem-solving abilities while allowing children to explore new interests and develop social skills. By staying academically active, students can return to school in the fall more confident and ready to tackle new challenges.

Access to IXL

Students will continue to have access to their IXL accounts throughout the summer. The platform offers a variety of engaging learning games and skill-building activities that can help students maintain and strengthen their academic skills during the break. We encourage regular practice over the summer, as continued learning helps prevent skill loss and keeps students sharp for the upcoming school year. Student login cards will be sent home at the end of the school year. If you have trouble logging in, please contact arozelle@ilcp.org.

Many local businesses and community spaces are embracing summer reading programs by offering exciting perks for young readers. Participants can enjoy discounts on meals, complimentary treats, or even exclusive deals when they present proof of their summer reading achievements.
