Now that school is out, Immanuel Lutheran teachers are taking advantage of their “break” to learn more! Last week, seven of the teachers, Kindergarten through middle school, attended a two-day workshop in Lombard on science. They learned how to implement the Next Generation Science Standards in a Godly way and how to integrate STEM activities into their curriculum. Our first grade teacher attended a five-day training on multi-sensory reading strategies for her classroom. This week, three of our teachers will be attending a two-day training on Improving Literacy and Writing Skills in the classroom. Other learning opportunities that Immanuel teachers will be completing over the rest of the summer include a workshop on helping struggling students, training to implement a Positive Behavioral and Intervention Support System here at ILS, and an Early Childhood Conference. The teachers are excited to be learning new ways to engage our students.
