MathCounts1On February 4th, Immanuel students once again competed in the regional MathCounts competition for the 5th consecutive year.  MathCounts is a program for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in which they compete with other area students through a series of challenging math tests.

The competition was held at Oakton Community College.  Immanuel had 10 students compete at this competition and we are proud of them! Middle School teacher Karen Sandusky and several parents accompanied them. Sandusky says, “I was glad to have an enthusiastic group of students who worked hard and did a great job!”

MathCounts2Students took a 2.5 hour test and then the top four per school advanced to the team competition. Then there is a lunch break followed by a speed round where the top students buzz in to answer verbal questions like a quiz show.
