A special thanks to everyone who “decorated” the Mitten Tree with mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats! On Thursday, December 17, Academic Principal Delaine Schiestel took the first batch of donations to St. Paul Lutheran on Dorchester Avenue in Chicago, our sister school. Timing was crucial this year - we wanted to make sure that they had the donation BEFORE school let out for break so that the children would receive the items before Christmas. St. Paul, in turn, will donate remaining mittens, scarves, and hats to a ministry they work with — Pilgrim Lutheran, Chicago.
Principal Schiestel also brought St. Paul’s six boxes of gently-used books leftover from Immanuel’s used book sale. The literacy coordinator was overjoyed. St. Paul’s does not have a school library, but now teachers will have more books that they can keep in their classrooms.
Mitten Tree donations will also go to Christ the King in Chicago.
Thank you everyone!
